Overview

Ladakh is a high-altitude mountainous region bounded by the Karakoram Range from the north and the Great Himalayas in the south. It is a land that abounds in awesome physical features set in an enormous and spectacular environment. Often described as ‘Moonland’ on account of the unique lunar landscape, Ladakh was an independent mountain kingdom for close to a millennium. Leh, the royal capital, was a major crossroads of Asia and a stopping point on the ancient migration routes of the trans-Himalayas, connecting Central Asia with the Indian sub-continent. Its landscape, sky, shooting stars, silence, wizened faces, rosy cheeks, dragons and Zen - everything makes Ladakh a quiet place to visit. This ethereal cold desert that goes by names such as 'The Last Shangrila', Moonscape, Little Tibet and so many others - all of which ring true, is a land that seldom fails to baffle or surprise. Itinerary

DETAIL ITINERARY

DAY 01 Arrival – Srinagar 5200 ft.
In time transfer to the airport to connect the flight to Srinagar. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to Mogul Garden "Nishat" (The Garden of Pleasure) and "Shalimar" (Abode of All). Drive along the Lake side on Boulevard On a return visit a local Handicrafts Emporium for hand-knotted specialty Silken carpets, shawls, and jewelry ornaments. In the second half day Visit Shankaracharya Temple visit Pari mahal. PM boat Ride on Dal Lake by a gondola Boat called ”SHIKARA” witness the ride on a lake, called Venice of India & experience the aquatic life of Srinagar. Also see the scenic extravaganza of Kashmir and enjoy the profusion of colors in Paradise on Earth. While returning visit to the local crafts market and see the fine carved hand-made articles from Paper Machie & wood of a walnut. Overnight at the Houseboat. 


Day 02: Srinagar to Kargil (220 kms/6-7 hrs approx one way)

After breakfast, proceed to Kargil via Srinagar Leh Highway. Enjoy a short halt at Sonmarg (Known as the gateway to Ladakh & the Meadow of Gold) to admire the views. One can enjoy a pony ride to Thajiwas glacier. Notice the gradual change in the colors of the mountains as you travel to Kargil. Cross the Zozilla pass & Drass region. Visit the Zozilla War memorial & Kargil War memorial on the way to pay tribute to the Indian Army. It was in this very region in the Indian Army fought and won the famous war of Kargil. Take some memorable snaps of Tololing, Tiger Hill, and the war memorial in Drass. Overnight stay in Kargil 


Day 03: Kargil to Leh (210 kms/6-7 hrs approx one way)

After an early breakfast, proceed to Leh. En route, visit Mulbek (known for its huge Buddha Statue) and Lamayuru monastery (The oldest monastery in Ladakh). Admire the confluence of the Indus – Zanskar Rivers and the effects of Magnetic Hill (Defiance of the law of gravity). Visit Gurudwara Patthar Sahib and Kali Mata temple and reach Leh in the evening. Overnight stay in Leh


DAY 04:  LEH EXCURSION TO MONASTERIES (50 KM / 02 HRS – ONE WAY)

Post Breakfast we proceed to Indus Valley Monastery Starting with Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, Thiksey Monastery an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village, Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh, 3 Idiots Rancho School &Sindhu Ghat. After visiting the above places we drive back to Leh. Evening at leisure to explore the city on your own. Overnight at Hotel.


Day 05: Leh to Nubra Valley (125 kms/5-6 hrs approx one way)

After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley (Known as the Valley of Flowers and the warmest region in Ladakh) via Khardungla pass. This road is considered to be the highest motorable road of the world. En route, admire the spectacular views of the never-ending snow-capped mountain ranges around Khardungla Pass (18,390 feet) After spending some time at Khardungla, proceed to Nubra. After Hotel check-in, enjoy Camel Safari in the evening. Overnight stay in Nubra


Day 06: Nubra to Pangong via Shyok (130 kms/5-6 hrs approx one way)

We will start the day following the same route towards Leh till we reach Khalsar. From the Agyam bridge, we will take the left route which leads us to the villages of Shyok and Durbuk. The route is scarcely used for commuting so you will not find any heavy traffic on any day. Some patches are bad but the experience will be great. The road after Shyok is good but very steep. After Durbuk, take left towards Tangtse and follow the traditional route. Drive further to Pangong Lake one of the largest and most beautiful natural brackish lakes in the Himalayas. Situated at 14000 ft, more than half of the lake is within Chinese Territory and only one-third part lies in India. Explore the lake area, might catch some rare wildlife.


Day 07: Pangong Lake to Leh (140 kms/5-6 hrs approx one way)

After breakfast, travel back to Leh. En route take a short halt at Changla Pass to enjoy a cup of hot steaming tea. Visit Shanti stupa and Leh Market in the evening. Overnight stay in Leh


Day 08: Departure from Leh

After breakfast, get transferred to Leh Airport for boarding the flight to your destination. Tour Concludes with some wonderful long-lasting memories.
