Kaas Plateau also known as the "Kaas Pathar" is situated in the Western Ghat’s Sahyadri range, 22 km from Satara city in the state of Maharashtra, India. The name Kaas originates from the Kaasa tree. As the leaves of this tree mature, they turn from green to red. Recently this site was declared as “WORLD HERITAGE SITE” due to the excellent biodiversity present over here. Apart from numerous varieties of wildflowers (some of which are endemic to Kaas only) this biodiversity site also shelters many insects, beautiful birds, amphibians, reptiles, and some major mammalian species. Visiting this ‘heaven on earth is always an outstanding experience.
It is biodiversity hotspot known for various types of seasonal wild flowers bloom and numerous species of endemic butterflies annually in the months of August and September. Kaas has more than 850 different species of flowering plants. These include orchids , shrubs such as the Karvy , and carnivorous plants such as Drosera Indica. The small shrubs and trees are located at the periphery of the plateau at Kaas plateau. Visiting this ‘heaven on earth is always an outstanding experience.

How do you travel from Mumbai to the Kaas Plateau?
In Maharashtra's Satara, there is a place called Kaas Pathar Satara. Pune and the Kaas Plateau are separated by a distance of 136 km, while Mumbai is 278 km away and can be reached in about 5 hours by car using the Mumbai-Kolhapur highway.

2. The Kaas Valley of Flowers in Satara has washrooms, right?
Kaas Plateau does not have public toilets. Toilets will be available at your restaurant, where we will halt for breakfast and lunch.

Veggie, non-Veggie, and Jain food will be provided during the journey. The food provided is
delicious, with a full meal.

5. Will it rain in Satara's Valley of Flowers?
Yes, the Valley of Flowers experiences a lot of rain. Carry your umbrella, poncho, and rain jacket when you are in Satara, Maharashtra. On a sunny day, an umbrella will also come in handy.

7. What else is there to see at Kaas Pathar besides flowers?
Bamnoli Lake beneath Kas Pathar during the flower season is the perfect place to sit and relax. We will try to show you as many flowers as we can. Kaas Satara has a beautiful climate during the monsoon. Chalkewadi has windmills that you can see. From afar, Sajjangad Fort can be seen. You will enjoy the day if you enjoy watching birds and butterflies. There are a limited number of passes available for Kaas Pathar, and they sell out weeks in advance. Booking for Kas Pathar online is required.

8. What are the return timings from Kaas Pathar, Satara?
The return timing deadline may be missed because of the Kaas Plateau's increased visitor traffic and poor road conditions. At Borivali, we have been there from 10.30 p.m. to 12 a.m. this season.

From August to October is the best time to visit Kas Plateau in 2024.
