Into the Misty Valleys of Garbett

08:00 AM – Meet at Bhivpuri Railway Station

Board the early morning Karjat Fast local from Mumbai and arrive at Bhivpuri Railway Station by 8:00 AM. Meet your Adventure Geek trek leaders outside the station and get ready to leave the city behind for one of the most beautiful monsoon trails in the Sahyadris.

08:15 AM – Breakfast at Diksal Village

A short drive takes us to the peaceful village of Diksal, where we enjoy a simple local breakfast. This is the perfect time to fuel up, meet fellow trekkers, and soak in the fresh countryside before beginning the adventure.

09:30 AM – Trek Begins

After a quick introduction, safety briefing, and group photographs, we start our trek towards the spectacular Garbett Plateau.

The trail winds through lush green fields, charming tribal villages, and dense monsoon forests. Along the way, we pass the beautiful Dhom Lake, where the reflections of mist-covered hills create postcard-perfect views. Every turn reveals waterfalls, flowing streams, and vibrant greenery that make this trek a monsoon favourite.

01:30 PM – Reach Garbett Plateau

After a rewarding climb, we arrive at the magnificent Garbett Plateau.

Take a well-earned break and enjoy your packed lunch surrounded by endless green valleys, rolling hills, drifting clouds, and panoramic views of the Western Ghats. During the monsoon, the plateau transforms into a magical landscape covered in fresh grass, wildflowers, and floating mist, making it one of the most scenic trekking destinations near Mumbai.

03:00 PM – Descend via Forest Trail to Dasturi

We continue our journey through a beautiful forest trail towards Dasturi. The descent offers more scenic viewpoints, hidden waterfalls, and the refreshing sounds of nature.

At Dasturi, treat yourself to hot tea and freshly roasted corn, the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable day in the mountains.

04:00 PM – Drive to Neral Railway Station

Our vehicles will take us comfortably to Neral Railway Station, where we prepare for the return journey to Mumbai.

05:00 PM – Return with Memories

The trek may end here, but the memories of misty forests, endless valleys, waterfalls, and new friendships will stay with you long after you reach home.

For instant energy carry glucose powder or energy drinks or chocolates. Though trekking is a fun-filled activity, it demands a good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over-the-counter medication for temporary treatment, so do give a heads-up to them if you need any medical assistance.

 

 Monsoon Precautionary Measures:

Use trekking shoes with a good grip to avoid slipping.

Take precautions against bugs. 

Carry First Aid & Necessary Gear.

Protect your valuable items like cameras, phones, IDs, etc with an extra plastic cover and then put them in your bag.

Yes, you can drive to Bhivpuri Road station the trek ends at Neral Railway Station from where you will have to reach your car parking location on your own.

A two-and-a-half-hour drive from Mumbai (95 km approx.) 

3) The number of days required for this event?
One day is required for the Garbett Plateau Monsoon trek near Mumbai.

4) Is there food available on Garbett Plateau Matheran?
There is no Food stall on Gartbett Plateau So one needs to buy from general stores before the trek starts.

5) How much time is required to climb Garbett Plateau?

Base Village at your own risk. There is no designated car parking available. 

7) Is there any parking charge?

Toilet facilities are available only at Bhivpuri Railway Station before the trek begins.

Once we leave the station, there are no washroom facilities until we reach the end point near Neral. We recommend using the station facilities before starting the trek.

Adventure Geek provides a delicious local Maharashtrian breakfast before the trek begins.

Participants are requested to carry their own packed lunch, as there are no food stalls or restaurants on the trekking route. Enjoy your lunch amidst the stunning views of Garbett Plateau, surrounded by lush green valleys and mist-covered hills.


Where is the meeting point for the Garbett Plateau Trek?

The meeting point is Bhivpuri Railway Station.

Participants travelling by Mumbai local train should board the early morning Karjat Fast train and reach Bhivpuri by 8:00 AM. Our Adventure Geek trek leaders will meet you outside the station and guide you throughout the day.

Participants travelling by private vehicle will receive the exact Google Maps location after registration.


Can I drive directly to the trek base?

Yes.

If you prefer travelling by your own car or bike, you can drive directly to the designated meeting point near Bhivpuri. The exact location and reporting instructions will be shared after your booking is confirmed.


Do you provide transport from Mumbai or Pune?

Transport is not included for the Garbett Plateau Trek.

Participants are required to reach Bhivpuri Railway Station on their own. Those travelling from Pune can drive directly to the meeting point or travel via Karjat and continue by local train to Bhivpuri.


Can children join the Garbett Plateau Trek?

Children with prior trekking experience may join if accompanied by their parents or guardians.

Teenagers between 15 and 17 years of age can participate with a parent, guardian, or written consent. Since this is a moderate monsoon trek with slippery sections, parental supervision is strongly recommended.


Can I bring my pet on the trek?

No.

Pets are not permitted on the Garbett Plateau Trek as the trail passes through forests, streams, and uneven terrain where their safety cannot be guaranteed.

  • You are joining an outdoor activity where any incident, reasons beyond control like Natural calamities, landslides, bad road conditions, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc.; Man-Made calamities, Vehicle breakdown, vehicle dysfunction can happen & you agree that the organizer/leader shall not be held responsible for any accident, mishap (including death) caused by any circumstances.
